Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is counselling?

Counselling is a confidential, collaborative process where we explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and challenges in a safe and supportive environment. It helps you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change.

2. How do I know if counselling is right for me?

Counselling can be helpful if you are:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or low

  • Struggling in relationships

  • Experiencing life transitions or stress

  • Dealing with grief, trauma, or loss

  • Wanting personal growth or self-understanding

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

3. What issues do you work with?

I support clients with concerns such as:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Depression and low mood

  • Relationship challenges

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Trauma

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Life transitions

If you’re unsure whether your concern fits, feel free to get in touch.

4. What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to:

  • Discuss what brings you to counselling

  • Explore your goals

  • Review relevant background information

  • Answer any questions you may have

There is no pressure to share everything immediately. We go at your pace.

5. How long does each session last?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, though frequency can be adjusted based on your needs.

6. Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or court orders). These limits will be explained clearly during your first session.

7. How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some clients benefit from short-term counselling (6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support.

8. Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, sessions can be held online via secure video platform, allowing flexibility and accessibility from the comfort of your home.

9. What are your fees and payment options?

Fees will be discussed during your initial enquiry. Payment is typically required before or at the time of the session. Please contact me directly for current rates and availability.

10. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

I require at least 24–48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged at half price for the first instance and then full price for any further instances.
